Pokémon Legends: Arceus has made great strides as far as the gameplay formula goes, but they have also made large changes to the story formula of Pokémon games. There is more depth to the story, more mysteries explored, and more characters to get to know. One of those characters is known as Palina, and here is who she is in the world of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Palina is a Wardenfor the Pearl Clan. She was Warden of the previous nobleArcanine, but due to an accident at sea resulting in the noble Pokémon’s demise, she has become the caretaker of the two Growlithe pups that it left behind. She isshunned by her clanbecause she does not believe in raising one of the Gowlithe’s for the sole purpose of replacing the Noble Pokémon that was lost. You will firstmeet her during The Lordless Island missionthat takes you to theCobolt Coastlands.

Wardens arepeople who serve special Pokémon. In the Hisui region, people hold great respect for these noble Pokémon, and it is a Warden’s job to look after them. They will work tokeep the Pokémon’s territory safefrom hostile threats andgive them food and water as offerings. Along your journey, you will meet many other Warden’s who need your help, or simply would rather just battle you.
So there you have it, that is who Palina is in Pokèmon Legends: Arceus. She is a perfect example of the steps that Gamefreak is making to bring a more interesting and serious narrative into Pokémon. You will have to meet her for yourself to learn more about her backstory.
