There are many different ways to evolve Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Typically evolution occurs by leveling up, but sometimes alternate methods are required. Some Pokémon can only evolve by being traded while holding a specific item. One of these items is the Metal Coat.
Players can find the Metal Coat in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl locations. You will need this item if you want either a Steelix or a Scizor.You can find the Metal Coat in the locations below.

When Scyther or Onix holds a Metal Coat and is traded, they will evolve into Scizor and Steelix. Scyther is exclusive to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, so those playing Pokémon Shining Pearl will have to trade for a Scyther.
Both Scizor and Steelix are excellent steel-type Pokémon and would be valuable to any team. They are also required to complete Pokédex, so completionists will want to get their hands on a Metal Coat or two.
