Pokémon and “horror” don’t often mix, but when they do it usually leads to something very creepy and memorable. We all remember the trauma that Lavander Town brought to us in the original Pokémon Red and Blue Games.

The Pokémon Company is doing its creepy magic again with this latest promotion fornext year’s Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In a tweet sent out by the official Pokémon account a very static-filled video was shared. The video showed a snowy area in the Hisui region—a region from the past that seems to be old Sinnoh from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

An unknown person behind the camera documents what they see, being easily startled by Snorunts. They eventually make their way up a mountain where they spot an unidentified Pokémon. They initially mistook the Pokémon as a Growlithe or a Vulpix. They described the Pokémon as having a red swirling tail before being assaulted by something off-camera. The footage has too much static to see what is happening.

The video acts like a found-footage movie, something similar toBlair Witch. It’s suitable creepy, yet also incredibly intriguing. One thing of notice is that Legend Arceus is supposed to take place in the distant past, but the person in the video was somehow filming what they saw with a device. The person may have been using an Arc Phone, a device that is connected to Arceus that essentially functions as a cell phone.

Pokémon Legends: Arceusis currently scheduled to release on Jul 14, 2025. Read more about the game on Pro Game Guides.
