Shiny Pokémon are rare versions of Pokémon in Pokémon go that have modified looks. They are called shiny because they generally have a slight sheen added to them, making them stand out more than the normal versions.

Shiny Rates

Apart from the Pokémon that don’t have shiny versions in the game, every Pokémon has a base shiny rate assigned to it that tells you how often you’ll see a shiny version of them under normal circumstances. Neither Chinchou nor Lanturn has any boost to their rate, so they are at the default shiny rate of1 in 500(about 0.20 percent). So, for every 500 Chinchou you catch, you’ll probably only get one shiny version.

Lanturns are rarely seen in the wild, so you will very rarely run into a shiny version. Chances are, the only way you’ll be able to get a Shiny Lanturn is by evolving a Shiny Chinchou.

How to Get Shiny Chinchou

There is no way to force a Shiny Chinchou to appear. Instead, players must simply play the game to hope to run into one. However, there are a few tricks players can use to make it easier to find them.
