Materia to enhance your weapons is one of the key mechanics of Final Fantasy XIV, and the latest expansion, Endwalker, has introduced even more Materia to enhance your weapons.

These new grades of Materia are Grade IX and Grade X. They provide a bonus +12, and +36 respectively to the Property they enhance. For example, Savage Aim Materia IX delivers a bonus of +12 to Critical Hit, while Savage Aim Materia X grants a bonus of +36 to the same stat.

Previously the highest grade of Materia was was VI and VII. These granted a bonus of +8 and +24 respectively. As with the example above, a Savage Aim Materia VI delivered a bonus of +8 to Critical Hit, while Savage Aim Materia VII provided a bonus of +24.

Getting the new grades of Materia

The new Materia is acquired in a number of ways. It drops as loot in level 90 dungeons. Additionally, the new Materia can be extracted from weapons and gear with a level requirement of 81-90 that have reached the maximumSpirit Bond. Once gear has reached 100% Spirit Bond, you can obtain the Materia by right clicking the item and selectingExtract Materia.

Alternatively you can tradeCracked AnthoclustersandCracked DendroclusterswithMateria Vendersfound in Endwalker cities for relevant Materia.

These can be obtained by completing daily Levelling Duty Roulettes or Alliance Raid Duty Roulettes while at least level 80 or above. You’ll receive one Cracked Anthocluster, and two Cracked Dendroclusters when you complete the duty.

Cracked Dendroclusters are traded for Grade IX Materia while Cracked Anthroclusters are used to purchase Grade X. These clusters can be used for any type of Materia, even crafting and gathering Materia.
