One of the most convenient features in Age of Empires IV is the ability to set collections of units to be selected when you press a number on your keyboard. These are called Control Groups because you set them by pressing and holding the Control button (Ctrl), then pressing the number to which you’d like to assign them.
However, the game doesn’t exactly explain how to ungroup these groups if you’d like to open that number up for another collection of units. To do this, you can use one of these options:

That’s all there is to resetting or clearing a control group. Alternatively, if you want to add to an existing group, you’re able to do that by selecting the units you want to add and pressingShift+Control Group Number.
