In Arknights, players must deploy Operators to complete various operations. But there are rules surrounding Operator Deployment—one being that each Operator has aDeployment Cost, so you needDeployment Points(DP)to bring them out on the battlefield.

But when there’s a swarm of enemies underway, there simply isn’t enough time to generate enough DP to bring out your powerful Defenders, Casters, Guards, and more.

Vanguards

The Vanguard Class consists of Operators that can generate DP throughDP-Recovery Skills. Vanguards have a low Deployment Cost, so it’s usually optimal to deploy themat the start of each battleto give you an opportunity to stall enemies and scrounge enough DP to bring out the rest of your Operators on time.

Generally,Flagbearer Vanguardslike Myrtle and Elysium are the best-in-slot choices for generating DP. But they stop attacking when their Skills are active, which means that enemies can run past them.

Meanwhile,Single-Block Vanguardslike Vigna and Reed generate 1 DP for every enemy they kill. Retreating them will also refund you their full Deployment Cost, so you can use this strategy when you need a quick DPS fix at a low Cost.

Other Vanguards, like the defensive Courier or offensive Saga, can usually block two enemies and generate moderate DP. Theydon’t stop attackingwhen their Skills are active.

DP Recovery Reduction Situations

Some special stages prohibit your ability to generate DP every second.

Meanwhile, Specialists under the Peddler Archetype, such as Jaye and Mr. Nothing, will force you togradually lose DPwhile deployed. If you run out of DP during their on-field time, they will automatically Retreat—and you don’t get a DP refund.
