Arcanine is perhaps one of the most frustrating Noble Pokémon to fight. The arena is very small, and he summons so much fire at some points that it becomes difficult to dodge his attacks.
However, with enough knowledge, this fight is actually pretty simple. you may even get through the entire thing without sending out a Pokémon. You just need to understand where your safe spots are and when Noble Arcanine will attack. Here’s how to beat him.
Phase 1: Dodge toward him
In a small field such as this, avoid side dodges—at least for the first part of the fight. Arcanine has two main attacks: a rush attack covered by a fiery aura and a jump attack where he leaves a big impact on the ground. If you side dodge any of these, it’s very likely that you’ll get hit by either the aura or the impact.
You’ll know he’ll do a rush attack when hiseyes light up. For the jump attack, well, hejumps.
You get temporary immunity when you dodge attacks, so don’t be afraid to meet him head on. For the first phase of the fight, you should only be rolling over two islands: the center, and one of the four islands at the sides. Onlyrollbefore impact. The immunity duration is very short.

Arcanine pauses after every attack. Throw your balms.
By the way, Arcanine has an attack where he summons the Volcano’s might at you. You’ll know he’s preparing for it when you see five orbs above his head. Justhit him five timesto get him to stop. He won’t attack, so just auto-lock and throw balms.
Phase 2: Stay at the corners and dodge
Arcanine is smart, so once you get his health low enough, he’ll summon a pit of fire in the middle of the arena. You can no longer spam dodge between two platforms, but that’s okay! You can avoid impact by staying on one of the two corners of the side you’re on—the space on them is much bigger now. The Noble will still use the same two moves.
If he’s coming from another platform, side dodge to the other cornerbefore impact. If he’s attacking from the same platform, front dodge to the other cornerjust before impact.
After a couple of attacks, Arcanine will once again attempt to make the volcano erupt. You need to hit him five times to get him to stop.
If you’re worried about the flames at the center getting in your way, don’t be. Take your character as close to the center as you’re able to without damaging them, manually aim at Arcanine, andhold throw. Your throwing distance increases the longer you hold ZR. You may not be able to auto-lock at him, but if you hold ZR long enough, the balms will reach him anyway.
And that’s it! Arcanine has no more tricks beyond this. If you’re not too confident about depleting his HP only with balms, bring aWater Pokémonwith you and send them into battle when Arcanine is dazed.
