Aside from gimmicks, Pokémon hasn’t introduced something new to the base game since the addition of Fairy-types in X/Y. However, recent leaks show that we may be getting something new in Pokémon Legends: Arceus:status conditions.
In a series of leaks by@CentroLeaks, it was revealed that five new status conditions will be added to Pokémon Legends: Arceus:

Given their unique mechanics, these status effects are expected to only be available in Pokémon Legends—at least for now.
