Each class within Destiny 2 (Hunter, Titan, and Warlock) has its own unique set of subclasses and abilities based on the four elemental types in the game: Solar, Arc, Void, and most recently, Stasis. Each of these subclasses and even their respective abilities may fit certain situations and activities better than others. Also, some exotic armor pieces may upgrade or change the way one subclass works, making the combination much more unique and powerful.

For anyone thinking about playing as a Hunter character, it’s important to understand that the Hunter subclasses and abilities are primarily focused on doing damage, buffing damage output, and even a little stealth. They can be super helpful in boss fights and a blast to play.

Gunslinger (Solar)

The Solar subclass is a very damage-heavy choice that is probably most useful in PvP situations.

Starting with its choice ofSupers, the Solar subclass has two of them. One is calledGolden Gun, where you wield a flaming Hand Cannonthat will one-shot a Guardian in PvP, and the other is calledBlade Barrage, in which you launch a volley of explosive knives.

Arcstrider (Arc)

The Arc subclass is based really on speed and mobility. It’s a great tool for all situations, both PvE and PvP. Starting with the Super, the Arc subclass lets Hunter’s use theArc Staffto wipe out groups of enemies and move across the field quickly.

Nightstalker (Void)

Void is the subclass used most for its damage buffing and stealth capabilities and would be most useful in PvE. Like the Gunslinger subclass, Nightstalker also has the choice of two Supers:Shadowshot, where you shoot arrow tethers that slow and weaken enemies, orSpectral Blades, in which you use a pair of Void blades to cut down enemies.

Revenant (Stasis)

Stasis is the newest addition of subclass for each class within the game. It was introduced at the start of the Beyond Light DLC and has been a great addition to the overall PvE gameplay. It features an ice-like elemental power capable of freezing enemies in their place. For Hunters, this subclass is about buffing team damage and controlling territory on the battlefield.

The Super in this subclass is calledSilence and Squall, which launches a spinning Ice Storm that tracks towards enemies, freezing them and killing anything trapped within.
